UNE ROUTE POUR KARGYAK

Belgian premiere –  Jean-Michel Corillion, France (2017), 52′

In an isolated enclave of the Himalayas, 12,000 Zanskarpas live in absolute autarky. To put an end to this isolation, the Indian government decides to build a road. But the means implemented are derisory and the site is dragging. Despite the situation, this village could well undergo profound upheavals: with the help of a bulldozer and an unshakeable will, a Buddhist monk decides to open up his village.

UNE ROUTE POUR XIAO JIANG

Belgian premiere –  Jean-Michel Corillion, France (2017), 52′

In the south of China, dozens of isolated villages are slowly fading away. The youngest inhabitants have already left and the oldest ones are being buried. The Chinese government has made a decision: in a few months, no one will live here and all the inhabitants will be relocated to the nearest city. But a man refuses this fatality: Yuan Feng, 48 years old and suffering from cancer, decides to dig the mountain alone for 5 km to build a road. A road that could save his village and the fate of its inhabitants.
