🏰 📚 Tonight @cinepilou's screening! Nathanaël is a little boy who does not understand the mechanisms of written language and for whom reading is a mystery. The library becomes a threatening place, disproportionately large, books are enemies whose characters are likely to attack the child at any moment. Nathanaël, who is used to his grandmother's stories, cannot imagine the heroes of his favourite stories other than as the fruit of his grandmother's storytelling talents. In this, he has perfectly understood the very principle of storytelling, which stems from the oral tradition before being transcribed and becoming essential figures in popular literature. But, faced with the books his aunt left him, he does not know how to react, afraid of losing these friends: he has not yet made the link between orality and books. He will have to learn how to protect these tales and understand that beyond the stories whispered before going to sleep, it is above all a question of transmitting dreams and life lessons, of sharing knowledge...

Tonight from 6pm to 9pm!

2019 Toronto International Film Festival prize for Best Canadian Film.

> On the occasion of the International Women’s Day 2021 next Monday, 8 march 2021 : online screening of Antigone, followed by a Q&A with the director Sophie Deraspe at 7.30pm.

By helping her brother escape from prison, Antigone confronts the authorities: the police, the judicial and penal system as well as the father of her friend Haemon. The brilliant teenage girl, on a spotless path so far, feels the noose tighten on her. But to man’s law, she substitutes her own sense of justice, dictated by love and loyalty

Canada’s Oscar submission is an intelligent, moving reworking of Sophocles’ tragedy, electrified by a breakout turn from star Nahéma Ricci. The clever screenplay injects these ancient archetypes directly into the bloodstream of the modern-day immigration debate.

Make sure to stay after the screening to ask all your questions to the director!
