BRUSSELS VIRTUAL REALITY FESTIVAL
CINEMA GALERIES, UGC Belgium, screen.brussels, Immersia Films and Poolpio – Immersive Contents Agency – create the first virtual reality festival (VR) of Belgium!
Virtual Reality is a set of technologies (programs, components, terminals) to give the viewer the impression of being “elsewhere” in another place, in another time, surrounded by objects or characters which do not exist. The viewer is no longer facing a screen, watching a movie. It is literally immersed in the film or the simulation.
Through different proposals the Experience festival will offer the public the opportunity to experience these new uses and to explore the emerging generation of virtual reality movies. With audiovisual professionals and filmmakers, it is also the occasion to discuss the challenges of this new sector of the artistic point of view but also in terms of production and distribution.
VR is not just a movie or a video game viewed in a helmet. It is a new audiovisual media with its own language and its own expression format. The aim of this new festival is to share a content developed by independent artists.

> THE RIGHT CHOICE SAVES LIVES / Soulmade & MSF
Synopsis : Often in a very short time many injured people will arrive in an MSF hospital. It’s easy to become overwhelmed by the work to be done and all the chaos around but they need their medics and logisticians to be ready to react quickly and effectively in this style of situation.
That’s why MSF have created the Multiple Casualty Incident (MCI) training. And, as part of this, they developed together with the production company Soulmade a Cinematic Virtual Reality Experience (360 video) showing the scene from a victim’s point of view. This video creates strong immersion and empathy which helps MSF staff to understand the victim situation and react in the most appropriate way.
Synopsis : From the heights of the Himalayas to the heart of the Amazon, Daniel Bury is on a mission to experience reality from the point of view of diverse people around the world, sharing first-hand encounters with distinct cultures and communities in immersive 360-degree virtual reality.

A poetic, interactive VR documentary in which the residents of the run-down Dizengoff Square in Tel Aviv muse on their lives, loves, longing and loneliness
At the end of 2016, Tzina Dizengoff square, one of Tel Aviv’s emblematic sites, will be demolished. The square became a home for the lonely and marginalized characters of the area. This project tells the story behind the people who gravitated toward the square and spent their days in it. In this interactive webVR documentary, they talk about the square and their lives. Their stories, with the recurring themes of love, longing and loneliness, are interwoven by Shirin Anlen with her personal connection to the same physical and emotional space. Together, they form a poetic musing on lost loves and things that have passed – one of which will soon be Dizengoff Square.
