After its huge online success, Jean-Luc Fafchamps’ pop-opera Is this the end? (Part I.), based on a libretto by Éric Brucher, will premiere on the big screen on Thursday 24 September at 7.30 pm with Cinema Galeries. A unique opportunity to wander once again in the limbo of life and death, and to discover the most remote corners of Théâtre La Monnaie, comfortably installed in our cinema.

Éric Brucher’s libretto introduces us to a teenager who is caught between life and death and faces other characters hovering in a transitory state of ‘departing consciousness’. More than a statement performance about the corona crisis, our season opener Is this the end? has become above all a multi-layered pop-requiem, which, as a tribute to Patrick Davin, inevitably grabbed the throat and at the same time (bearing the maestro in mind) did not shy away from humour. .

Ingrid von Wantoch Rekowski directs, aiming to give life to this ‘Mass’ of people who are half alive.
